Welcome to the Public Works Document Center

Welcome to the Department of Public Works and
Engineering
Document
Center. Many of the past and current documents that were on the City of Houston’s Public Works (PWE) and General Services (GSD) websites are now located here, in this electronic document repository. The document categories are more refined and descriptive, making it easier for the end user to locate a specific document. An added feature of the new
Document
Center is the “details page”. Every document is connected to a page with details such as title of document, description of document and which division, branch or section maintains the document.
Division 00 and 01 have been revised for use on PWE and BSD CIP projects advertising after May 1, 2004. 70-30 Developer Participation Contract (DPC) projects may use them now. Those BSD and PWE projects that are due to advertise before this threshold date should use the current Division 00 and 01 documents, which should be available through your assigned City Project Manager.

Note that many of these new documents have been revised for binding and two-sided printing. Files available in PDF or TIFF format are generally not to be edited. Files available in MS Word or CADD formats may be edited, in accordance with guidance given, to tailor them to the project. New Division 00 documents will bear a date in the footer of “02-01-2004” or later. New Division 01 sections will bear a date in the footer of “08-01-2003” or later. During this transition period some of these new documents may have small revisions made prior to May 1. If so, their footer date will be revised. The file’s date-time stamp will not always indicate the footer date but a change in a file’s date-time stamp may indicate that a change has occurred and a new footer date is in the document.
Users of Standard Technical Specifications and Details must check for Supplements or Revisions to those published standards. If a Standard Specification is included in a Project Manual, its Supplement (if one exists) must be included, too. Supplements shall be printed on blue paper. If a detail has been revised, the user must use the revision rather than the original published standard detail. Details in TIFF format shall be used unaltered and in their entirety.
